When I was little I was OBSESSED with dressing up.  My outfits always had one common theme… Jewellery!  My favourite thing to “be” was a Fortune Teller.  

I’d wrap a shawl around me and drape a beautiful dangly pendant over my forehead and pretend I had special powers!  I was only four years old but it was the start of it all for me.

As I grew older I began my very own collection of jewellery.  Every single piece had meaning to me.  Into my teens, I became addicted to Sterling Silver jewellery.  Particularly the intricate designs from India, bonus points if it jingled!  Bangles were my absolute favourite (and still are to this day!).

Fast forward to my adult self… 

Having spent over 20 years as a Figurative Sculptor, in 2014 I released a Limited Edition collection of animal jewellery.  I had made my first ever Jewellery  Collections from Pewter!  I marvelled at how the solid metal could become liquid, then back to solid Pewter in moments!  It was magical!  I was instantly whisked back to the fond memories of being allowed to rummage through an old  jewellery box full of costume jewellery and play “dress up”.  

I knew I now had the ability to pass this feeling on through my work.  I’d finally found my calling after all this time!  To evoke FEELINGS when my lovely customers wore their beloved cat or dog necklace that I’d made especially for them.  To bring comfort to people who had lost a loved one by incorporating ashes into my jewellery.

It was in 2018 I realised (after being asked over and over again if I would make my designs in silver and gold) that I knew I needed to level up.

Working with precious metals is a totally different avenue than working with Pewter, requiring a vast new skillset and very expensive equipment/tools.  So I taught myself the art of Silversmithing and Lost Wax Casting and have never looked back!  MooKi Jewellery was officially “born” in 2019 and I now work exclusively in 100% Recycled Sterling Silver and Solid Gold.
